Are you ready to teach your toddler, preschooler, or kindergartener scissor skills?

A simple online search of the term “scissor skills” produces a multitude of resources…mostly worksheets.

Now let me say that I don’t hate worksheets. They have a place and time and setting, but they are definitely not my number one pick when I want to introduce my kids to a new skill.

For teaching scissor skills, in particular, I wanted to give my kids practical AND fun ways to master cutting. I didn’t want them to be limited by the constraint of an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and dotted lines.

As adults, we use scissors for a variety of purposes: to trim yarn, prune plants, create art, snip herbs, etc. and I wanted to teach my kids to use scissors for those same practical tasks. Paper is not the only thing kids need to learn how to cut!

In this book, I developed targeted activities that encourage a mastery of scissor skills in both practical and creative ways.

This book will help you:

  • Encourage the development of scissor skills on a process-driven continuum.
  • Work from open-ended explorations to more specific crafts as a child’s abilities grow.
  • Incorporate practical scissor skill activities that go beyond cutting dotted lines!
